Somewhere Blue and Yoga in Tinos are coming together to offer two intimate
Wax to Silver ring carving workshops at Plakiani.
This is an invitation to slow down.
Hidden within the rocks and embraced by the cave, Plakiani is a place where time softens. Surrounded by the endless blue and the raw beauty of the elements, you’ll be guided into a space of presence, connection, and quiet creativity.
Here, there is no expectation of perfection. The intention is simply to carve, create, and enjoy the process, allowing your hands to lead while letting go of the outcome.
Sheltered from the wind and held by the landscape, we’ll gather to shape wax into a ring that will later be transformed into silver. A lasting reminder of an experience rooted in stillness, trust, and creation.
We look forward to sharing this special place and moment with you.
The workshop is designed for beginners and requires no previous experience.
I will guide you through the process of carving your own ring in wax using the lost wax casting technique.
One of the oldest techniques in the world, dating back more than 6,000 years. Used by the ancient civilizations of Egypt, Mesopotamia, Greece, and the Indus Valley, it has endured through centuries of craftsmanship and remains one of the most respected methods in fine jewelry today.
Every piece begins as a sculpture carved entirely by hand in wax. Once complete, it is encased in a mold and heated until the wax melts away, leaving behind an empty space. Molten precious metal is then poured into that cavity, capturing every mark, every curve, and every detail left by the maker’s hands.
The original wax is gone forever, hence the name lost wax. It exists only once, making every piece truly unique.
Unlike mass production, lost-wax casting celebrates individuality. Every carved line, every texture, and every subtle imperfection becomes part of the finished jewel. It is a process that cannot be rushed and a reminder that the most meaningful objects are shaped slowly, by hand.
At our workshop we will begin by measuring your ring size to ensure a comfortable fit.
You will then learn how to use carving tools and heat to shape the wax, allowing you to carve, melt, add, or remove material as you develop your design.
I will be there throughout the process to assist you and answer any questions.
You will work with blue & green wax that is applied using heat, allowing you to build and layer form. Each material offers a different way to approach your design.
Once your wax ring is complete, I’ll take care of the rest. Your design will be cast in 925 Sterling Silver at our local foundry and I will handle all the finishing touches, cleaning, filing, sanding, hallmarking, and polishing.
Your finished ring will be ready to pick up or ship within 2 to 3 weeks, transformed from wax into silver, and made to last.
With a deeper connection to the material, the process, and your own creative language, Eleni invites you to come as you are, to slow down, to work with your hands.
To create a piece that carries your presence. A ring to wear, to keep, or to offer to someone you love.
